Bath Time!!

Maeli's umbilical cord finally fell off so mike and I gave her her first bath! since she has been known for pooping on us...we were a little scared to leave her diaper off that long but it had to be done! It was a very interesting experience since she screamed the whole time and pooped not just once but two times while we were bathing her! She was happy to get out and get wrapped in a warm towel! On the bright side though... she smells wonderful thanks to all the baby soap and loations that the Owens got for us!! She is a much happier camper now that she is sleeping in a warm blanket!

Home at last!!

Yesterday was the most wonderful day EVER!!! We got to bring our little Maeli home with us! We have been waiting for this day for the last 9 days and by now we were getting pretty sick of the hospital! It was pretty exciting to get to take her home and not have to spend the day in the NICU. We have spend the last day and a half just loving getting to hold her whenever we want and getting to study her beautiful face! She has kept us all entertained with her silly faces and cute little smiles that she gives all the time. She is a little too small for all the clothes we got for her so Grandma Marvin got her some premie clothes that fit her a little better! We especially enjoyed her waking us up every two hours for feeding....and i have enjoyed Mike getting up with me :) We are more than happy to wake up with her though cuz we are just so happy that she is finally home! We love our little girl so so much!! She has stolen our heart as I'm sure she has yours too :)

What a great day!

So today was such a great day for Maeli! First of all... when my dad and i showed up this morning, the nurses were taking her off of her CPAP! i was so excited because now you can see her beautiful little face! Then they let me feed her her first bottle! this was so great!! She sucked the thing right down. she got up to 10 cc's doday and we were so impressed! she will be outta here in no time! We just love our little girl and cant wait to bring her home!

and it keeps on getting better!

Our little princess is doing so great! I am so greatful that i get to be a mother for mothers day! Maeli improved a ton today and we are so pleased with the progress that she is making! They have her oxygen level way down and she is breathing at a better more steady rate! They let her have her first meal today and she didnt digest the first feeding but the next, she had it all gone by the time they wanted to give her more. So they bumped up her feeding amout and she is doing so great! i think getting some food in her makes her feel a lot better too! I also got to hold my little girl for mothers day for a half hour! it was so special and i cant wait till they let me hold her again! She also got to spend lots of time with both her grandparents today! i loved having all of my family and mikes family here to see her! It was the best Mothers Day EVER! I got to go home today too from the hospital and so its nice to be in my home! Maeli had her eyes wide open today for the first time! she was so cute looking around and just so wide eyed! They said that they will probably take her off her c-pap tomorrow! im so excited with all the progress we are making! she will be out of there in no time!

Update on Maeli!

We got more pics for you all so that she doesnt have to make you cry. Maeli is still in the NICU but is making improvements! She didnt make much progress last night because we werent down there with her, but still getting closer to the big day we get to leave. The docs are still saying the same thing that she just has under developed lungs. Its not anything too serious, it will just take her a little time to mature! I got to change her diaper today for the first time, but other than that they wont let me touch or even hold her. Its been so hard for me to not be able to have her with me. My doctor said that he will be surprised if she is here longer than two weeks, so that is a lot more promising than the NICU nurses have been making it seem! Thanks so much for all your prayers! Please keep her in your thoughts. Pray that her little lungs keep getting better!!!

She is here!!!

I have been enduring labor for the last 35 hours here at good ol Portneuf Hospital! On Wed they found that i have Preclampsia and so they had to get little Maeli out of there asap! So that night they started me with some pills that were supposed to soften my cervix. At about 7 the next morning i had dialated some and was 75% effaced so they started me on Potocin. as soon as that started, all my contractions stopped and i had made no progress for 4 1/2 hours. They took me off all drugs and let my body rest for most of the day and wanted to start me again on thurs night. So i suffered all day with steady contractions till they gave me more of those pills at 7 Thurs night. My contractions started right up again super hard and i got some IV pain killer about 1. They told me that this would wear off in an hour so i got some sleep. I woke up 3 hours later with no contractions and no pain. I totally freaked out and was so scared that they would send me home or put me up for a c section. Well about an hour later my doc checked me and i had dialated to a 4 and so he broke my water. Two seconds later i wated an epidural, so they got me that, and an hour later he checked me again. i was dialated to a 9 and i delivered about 30 min later. i pushed for maybe 15 mins. it was so great! she is having problems breathing though so she is in the NICU for today. I get to celebrate Mothers Day!!

On Monday i got a really bad headache! it kept on getting worse and worse until today i finally went into the doctors to find out that i had preclampsia! My blood pressure was super high and i had protein in my urine. So the doc called right over to labor and delivery and let them know that i was gonna be there between 7 and 8 tonight to get induced! He plans on delivering her tomorrow morning! So i have just over an hour left till i get to have the pain nob turned to high! Wish me luck and pray that i dont have to have a c-section! Ill keep you all updated on how it all goes and when she comes out! Oh and i took one final picture of me before i am no longer pregnant! OOOHH so nervous!
